When Right Occur
When a company or individual creates a work copyright arises. If you wrote a book, someone would be allowed to write their own book around the same idea, but would not be allowed to directly copy it. Names, titles, short phrases and colours are not seen as unique enough to be part of copyright when repeated; however a creation like a logo that features these elements may be seen as copyright if copied. Who Owns A Piece Of Work
According to the 1988 Copyright, Designs and Patents Act the individual or collective who authored the work will own it and is reffered to as the 'first owner of copyright.' However, the first owner of copyright can belong to a company. For example if someone produces work for their employer it can belong to the employer's company. |
